La boxeadora peruana Kina Malpartida afirmó que "los sueños se hacen realidad", tras haber ganado el sábado el título mundial de la categoría súper pluma de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo.
"Los sueños se hacen realidad cuando uno persevera y tiene un deseo en su mente y no lo deja ir, a pesar de las adversidades. Eso lo he comprobado yo misma", declaró.
La boxeadora, que derrotó en el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York a la norteamericana de origen mexicano Maureen Shea, confesó que no tiene representante y que ha tenido que sortear muchos inconvenientes para avanzar en su carrera deportiva.
"Esto cuesta mucho, porque no solamente fueron los entrenamientos, sino las visas, el viaje, la gente mala, todo fue muy complicado, pero siempre hay que tener el deseo y no dejar que desaparezca", acotó Malpartida, que reside desde 2005 en California y también posee la nacionalidad australiana.
La nueva campeona mundial también tuvo palabras de elogio para Shea, una boxeadora que sumó su primera derrota el sábado, tras doce presentaciones exitosas.
Su calidad "se ha comprobado muy bien en sus peleas pasadas, la primera pelea que ha perdido ha sido contra mi, además ella es de Nueva York, oriunda del Bronx, era local", indicó.
La prensa peruana celebró hoy con grandes titulares el título mundial de Malpartida, quien alcanzó el primer galardón de ese tipo para el país andino.
En la década de los años 80 disputaron el título mundial, sin éxito, los boxeadores nacionales Oscar Rivadeneyra, Orlando Romero y Luis Ibáñez.
